Week 2 saw Galfond fare no better. It went even worse for him and he found himself stuck €900,240.17 after 9,927 total hands.

A long blog post revealed Galfond planned to take a break from the challenge to regroup.

“I’ve had a session win/loss record of 1-12-2 over these first 15 days of play. I know it was been hard for some of you to watch! I hope I feel prepared to come back and put on a good show for you all, but I know that realistically, as much as I don’t want to, there’s a chance I’ll have to just take the loss”

Another two sessions on March 19 and 20 saw Galfond claw back another €34,726.53.

The pair locked horns again on March 21 and Galfond came out with a €140,979.28 win. He’s still down significantly, but now trails by €318,895.43 with 17,551 hands completed. Reports suggest Venividi1993 “rage quit” the session because it ended so abruptly.

Galfond only has 7,449 hands remaining to win back almost €319,000 but he’s in a much better position than a fortnight ago. We hope he completes his comeback because it would be unheard of in recent time.
